Spring Small Groups are Launching this Week!

We have had incredible interest in people being a part of small groups this season!  In response, we are excited to share that we have launched a brand new group on the Upper West Side meeting on Tuesday nights from 6:30 pm to 8 pm.   If you are looking for a group, and have not yet been able to get in one, I'd recommend joining this group.  We also have some availability in our new Dumbo/BK Heights group also meeting on Tuesdays from 6:30 pm to 8 pm.

If you'd like to be in a group, please check out our groups around the city.  If you have any questions or need help getting into a group or finding out about a group, don't hesitate to get in touch with our Pastor of Community and Mission, Alicia Divers.

City Relief Volunteer Opportunity (5/15)

Wednesday, May 15th, from 10:30-1:00, we will take a group from Good Shepherd to serve with City Relief at Chelsea Park.

Volunteers will meet City Relief staff at the Chelsea Park outreach site at 10:30 AM (Alicia Divers will meet you there) and join together with City Relief staff and our community partners to throw a block party and create a welcoming environment!

Volunteers assist with a variety of activities, such as:

  • Set up tables, chairs, and tents on the street. Pass out soup, bread, & beverages, and offer socks (& more!) to visitors to outreach.

  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness at and around the outreach.

  • Travel in teams around the nearby area to invite guests to the outreach.

  • Assist with site clean up and breakdown of tables, chairs, and tents.

Volunteers are encouraged to interact, through conversation, a shared meal personally, and even pray with the people we serve. As a volunteer, you will help connect guests to City Relief staff for a Life Care Visit, a conversation where hope and tailored resources are offered.  If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to Alicia Divers, Pastor of Community and Mission. Let us know if you'd like to join us by registering here

New Volunteer Orientation (5/19)

Join Alicia and Gabriela for a Sunday Morning Volunteer Orientation, On Sunday, May 19th immediately following both services in Sherred 2A.  Sunday Volunteer opportunities include greeters before services, ushering, reading liturgy, and volunteering as a teacher or helper in kid's ministry.  If you are new to the church and are looking for easy ways to get involved, I'd encourage you to join us to learn more!

Financial Update

We are calling on our Good Shepherd family to band together in order to build the strength that our church needs to secure a bright and fruitful future in this city. The costs associated with relocating and securing a long term lease on a sufficient venue will be significant, and we’ll need your generosity to increase our financial capacity to make a swift and smooth transition. Please check out our Financial Update page to learn more about how you can help.

Youth Group

Youth group is back in action for 2024 with a Sunday gathering at 9:30am and a Wednesday gathering at 6:00pm. Please contact Micha Boyett Hohorst with any questions or to sign up for the youth email list.

Volunteer with GSNY

We would love for you to get plugged into our community and one of the best ways to do that is by volunteering on Sunday Mornings (and beyond!). There are many ways to get involved including greeting, reading scripture, writing prayers, ushering, helping with Kid’s Ministry and beyond. If you’d like to volunteer, or hear more about volunteering at GSNY click the link below to fill out the volunteer form and someone will reach back out to you!

Good Shepherd Collective’s Album “Peace Songs” Out Now!

Good Shepherd Collective’s album “Peace Songs” is now available wherever you listen to music. Written and recorded in partnership with Telos, we hope this album encourages conversation around peacemaking. You can listen to the album here on your preferred platform!

Digital Church, 11am ET

Good Shepherd New York continues to post weekly online gatherings. We know that many are still uncomfortable or unable to attend in-person gatherings and a wider community beyond New York has begun to engage. We continue to move toward each other through these digital gatherings, our digital kid’s program, and our other community initiatives. You can visit our YouTube channel at digitalchurch.nyc and spread the word!

If you live beyond NYC and are interested in joining a digital small group, please email Alex (alex@goodshepherdnewyork.com).
