Our Fall Tradition Is Back: Apple Picking Day

Join us on Saturday, October 10 for one of our favorite Good Shepherd fall traditions: apple picking at Twin Star Orchards / Brooklyn Cider House in New Paltz!

Spend the day picking apples, exploring the beautiful orchard, and enjoying delicious food, hard cider, and, of course, apple cider donuts. Come hang out with old friends, meet some new ones, and enjoy a fall day outside together. And if apple picking isn’t your thing, there’s still plenty to eat, drink, and enjoy at the orchard.

Tickets are $5 per person, with optional add-ons for apple picking and round-trip charter bus transportation from Good Shepherd in Gramercy. You can also drive yourself and meet us there.

Space is limited, and charter bus seats are first-come, first-served.

Digital Church Weekend: October 16-18

We are excited to host our third Digital Church Weekend, welcoming any digital church parishioners from around the world to gather in NYC for a weekend of connection, exploration and worship. Some sessions include:

Fall Small Groups Are Here

Small Groups are one of the best ways to find community at Good Shepherd. This fall, groups will gather in parishioners’ homes and neighborhoods across the city for conversation, connection, and a shared study together.

This season, Michael Rudzena will lead us through a study on reading the Bible with fresh eyes—exploring how we engage Scripture thoughtfully, honestly, and with room for questions, complexity, and discovery.

We’re also excited to offer our first-ever LGBTQ+ Affinity Small Group, creating a dedicated space for LGBTQ+ members of our community to build relationships and explore faith together.

Registration opens Sunday, September 13. Groups begin the week of September 27 and run through November 20.

Wednesday Nights - “Walking On Water”

We're doing a 5-week series on creativity and contemplation this fall, and would love for you to join us. Drawing on inspiration from Madeleine L'Engle's classic book on spirituality for creatives, "Walking On Water", Kate Gungor will be leading these gatherings to include conversation on some themes related to creativity and spirituality, and a guided group contemplative practice. Reading the book is not required (this is not a book club), but you're welcome to if you'd like!

These gatherings will take place at the church on Wednesday nights Oct 21-Nov 18, at 7pm.

Serve with City Relief

On the last Friday of every month, Good Shepherd serves alongside our church partner, City Relief, at their Tompkins Square Park (E 10th St, New York, NY 10009) outreach. These outreach days create a welcoming space for neighbors through hospitality, conversation, practical support, and connection to resources.

Volunteers may help with setup, hospitality, food and clothing distribution, neighborhood outreach, cleanup, and relational presence with guests throughout the day. It’s a meaningful opportunity to serve hands-on while joining City Relief in offering dignity, care, and hope.

Volunteer at Good Shepherd

Sunday mornings are something we create together, and there are lots of ways to be part of making our gatherings welcoming and participatory.

Our Sunday volunteers serve as greeters, ushers, Psalm readers, Gospel readers, and readers for the Prayers of the People. Whether you love welcoming people as they walk through the doors or would rather participate by helping lead part of the liturgy, there’s a place for you.

No previous experience is needed — we’ll make sure you have everything you need before you serve.
