Weekly Lent Rhythms
Wednesday Lenten Book Club, 7pm ET
What does Jesus’ suffering and death mean? How can we understand the significance of the “atonement” for us today? Lent is a time to focus on Jesus’ journey to Jerusalem and to reflect on the mystery of the crucifixion. We will read a book called “The Wood Between The Worlds” by Brian Zahnd. Join Michael Rudzena as he leads a weekly zoom discussion of this book on Wednesdays at 7pm ET. Please register for the zoom link, and email Michael Rudzena if you have any questions.
Friday Guided Examen Prayer, 12pm ET
During Lent, we will be gathering on zoom for a weekly Examen practice. The Examen prayer is a beautiful practice of holy self-reflection developed by St. Ignatius. Join us Fridays at 12pm ET. Please register for the zoom link, and email Kate Gungor if you have any questions.
Sunday Lenten Intercessory Prayer, 7pm ET
How can we be a people of peace and responsibility during times when worry seems like the only option? Join parishioners Karen and Mick Maudlin on Sundays at 7pm ET who will guide us in a time of prayer for our world and one another on the Lenten journey. Please register for

Baptism Class for Adults
Baptism is one of the most important sacraments of the Church. If you are a child or an adult, we offer baptism classes as a way to explore and understand the history, theology, and importance of baptism in the Christian life. If you have never been baptized and are interested in learning more about the meaning of baptism in your life as a Christian, we’d love for you to join us. Our baptism classes for adults will meet on zoom on March 30, April 6, and April 13 at 7:30pm ET. On Easter Sunday, April 20, we will celebrate as a community by baptizing those who would like to be baptized. Please register for the zoom information, and email kate@goodshepherdnewyork.com with any questions.
Do You Want to Join Our Small Group Leadership Team?
The GSNY team is seeking passionate leaders for our spring small groups taking place in May and June. We have two key roles available:
Host
Open your home to provide a warm meeting place where our group can share meals and fellowship. As a host, you'll organize weekly meals and prepare your space for our gatherings.
Facilitator
Encourage engaging, thoughtful dialogue around our spring curriculum—no teaching expertise is necessary. Your role is to create a welcoming environment for conversation and community.
If you're interested in exploring these opportunities, please get in touch with Alicia Divers, our Pastor of Community and Mission. We aim to have leaders in place by the end of March.
Missed Orientation? You Can Still Volunteer!
We are so thankful for the brand-new volunteers who have stepped up to help! However, as we prepare for the fall season and our church’s exciting transition, we could really use 12+ more volunteers to help set us up for success. Your involvement will be key to ensuring everything runs smoothly during this important time.
Why Volunteering is Simple and Flexible:
Minimal Time Commitment: You’re only required to arrive 15 minutes before service, making it easy to fit volunteering into your Sunday routine.
Flexible Scheduling: With Planning Center, you’re in full control of your schedule. Simply block out the dates when you're unavailable, so you serve when it fits your life. Whether you can commit to serving every month or every other month, we welcome your involvement!
Why Your Help Matters:
Volunteers play a crucial role in making sure our church feels welcoming and well-supported as we transition into the next season. From greeting to hospitality and behind-the-scenes work, every volunteer helps create a smooth, inviting experience for everyone who walks through our doors.
Next Steps:
If you're interested in joining the team:
Email Alicia at alicia@goodshepherdnewyork.com for more information.

Once we receive your form, I’ll onboard you to our new system and guide you through a simple orientation. We're excited to have you join us!
Thank you for considering how you can be part of this exciting season at our church. Together, we can make a lasting impact!

Digital Church, 11am ET
Good Shepherd New York continues to post weekly online gatherings. We know that many are still uncomfortable or unable to attend in-person gatherings and a wider community beyond New York has begun to engage. We continue to move toward each other through these digital gatherings, our digital kid’s program, and our other community initiatives. You can visit our YouTube channel at digitalchurch.nyc and spread the word!
If you live beyond NYC and are interested in joining a digital small group, please email Alex (alex@goodshepherdnewyork.com).
