Immigration: A Biblical Response

  • 75 Murray Street New York, NY, 10007 United States (map)

When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God. Leviticus 19:33-34

Humane immigration reform is a public policy priority for the 8 million Hispanic evangelicals in the United States. As brothers and sisters, how can we respond alongside one another to the need for change in a broken system? What does scripture say about loving our neighbors and treating people with dignity and respect, and how does that impact our response?

Rev. Dr. Gabriel Salguero, co-lead pastor of the Lamb’s Church of the Nazarene in New York and founder of the National Latino Evangelical Coalition (NaLEC), will help us interpret a biblical framework for immigration reform and consider what our role is in this area of justice.
