Summer Neighborhood Meetups
This summer, we’re bringing our community a little closer—one neighborhood at a time.
One of the clearest things we heard in our recent church-wide survey? You want more ways to connect. We’ve heard you, and we’re excited to announce Summer Neighborhood Meetups—a series of casual, outdoor gatherings happening across NYC.
These are easy, drop-in friendly, and hosted by our amazing elders. Whether you’re brand new or a familiar face, these are great spaces to build connection, enjoy the sunshine, and meet others who call Good Shepherd home.

We chose these five based on where the largest clusters of our community live—but we hope to expand. If you’re interested in hosting a meetup in your own neighborhood, reach out to Alicia Divers.
Let’s make this a summer of connection.
The Kingdom Within - Mindfulness Series
The Kingdom Within is a 7-week Mindfulness course on Wednesday nights from 7-8pm, starting July 16th through August 27th. The group will meet together on Zoom, so digital and local parishioners are welcome.
Growing up in the church, I had a strong desire to draw close to God. But the traditional practices I inherited like praying and bible study never seemed to lead me to the intimacy I felt was possible.
In the midst of my deconstruction phase, I stumbled onto a style of meditation called "Effortless Mindfulness" – a direct contemplative practice that revealed ‘the kingdom of god within me.’ It was a simple yet profound recognition of the holy spirit’s presence, and exactly what I had been looking for.
If any of this strikes your curiosity, then this practice may be a good match for you. It will be a mix of modern mindfulness practice imported from the eastern traditions, fully integrated with the gospel of Jesus that we all know and love.

Calling Leaders, Dreamers, and Doers
We’re forming a small group of leaders, dreamers, and doers who have a heart for our unhoused neighbors and want to help integrate the work of City Relief into the life of our congregation. If this work speaks to you—and you have the time and energy to help bring it to life—we’d love to hear from you.
Alicia will be hosting a small gathering in her home this summer to begin dreaming, planning, and imagining what this could look like in our community.

Digital Church, 11am ET
Good Shepherd New York continues to post weekly online gatherings. We know that many are still uncomfortable or unable to attend in-person gatherings and a wider community beyond New York has begun to engage. We continue to move toward each other through these digital gatherings, our digital kid’s program, and our other community initiatives. You can visit our YouTube channel at digitalchurch.nyc and spread the word!
If you live beyond NYC and are interested in joining a digital small group, please email Alex (alex@goodshepherdnewyork.com).
